Top entries will be determined by campuswide voting, and the winner in each category will win a variety of prizes and advance to the national competition sponsored by the German Embassy!

Essay
Discuss the role of German influence(s) in America; 2 to 3 pages in length (Times font, 12 point, double-spaced, 1-inch margins). Individuals only (no group submissions!). Please keep the following criteria in mind to improve your chances of winning: Content, language, organization, and originality.
Graphic Arts/Sculpture
Create a piece of visual art (poster, painting, collage, sculpture) related to German language and/or culture. Entries must be photographed for submission as JPEG files or, create a video if your work involves moving images. Videos need to be an MP4, M4V, or MOV file using the H.264 codec or compression. . Individuals only (no group submissions!). Please keep the following criteria in mind to improve your chances of winning: Content, creativity, and artistic expression.
NOTE: Entries must be less than 1GB file size.
Film/Video
Produce a short film (about 3-5 minutes) that portrays German influence(s) in the daily lives of Americans.Must be submitted an a MP4, M4V, or MOV file using the H.264 codec or compression. Individuals and small groups (up to 3 individuals) may work together on a single entry. Please keep the following criteria in mind to improve your chances of winning: Content, creativity, organization, and research.

Poem/Song
Compose a song or write a poem that deals with Germany, its language, or its influences in the US. Submit a performance of the song or poem as an MP3 file for audio, or as an MP4, M4V, or MOV file using the H.264 codec or compression for video. Individuals only (no group submissions!). If you create your work as a video, consider putting the text of your song or poem at the beginning or end of your piece. Please keep the following criteria in mind to improve your chances of winning: Content, creativity, and artistic expression and performance.

Speech
Deliver a 3- to 5-minute speech on German–American relations. Audio spots shall be submitted as MP3 files while videos need to be submitted as an MP4, M4V, or MOV file using the H.264 codec or compression. Individuals only (no group submissions!).
